According to a press release issued on May 8, 2023 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and subsequent updates, the Overseas Koreans Agency will have its headquarter located in Songdo International City, Korea.

Additionally, the agency's service support center will be located in Seoul, Korea to provide convenient one-stop administrative services for overseas Koreans with respect to nationality, visa, military service, taxation, veteran affairs, and national pensions.

The Overseas Koreans Agency is set to be established and launch its services on June 5, 2023 in accordance with a recent amendment to the Government Organization Act.

Overseas Koreans

The Overseas Koreans Basic Act, which will come into effect on November 10, 2023, defines overseas Koreans as follows:

(i) Korean nationals who have stayed in a foreign country for an extended period of time or have acquired permanent residency in a foreign country, and

(ii) foreign nationals who once held Korean nationality by birth (including those who moved abroad before the founding of the Republic of Korea) and their descendants.

At OpenVisa Korea, we assist overseas Koreans (including Korean adoptees) in navigating various matters related to the Korean government. Our services cover a range of areas, including F-4 visa application, permanent residence, recovery of Korean nationality, and administrative reviews and appeals.

Should you have any questions or comments regard these matters, please donโ€™t hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to help and provide the necessary guidance.
